YIMBY: The opposite of Not In My Backyard

Gas ContainerSouth Dakota has recently approved the first major new refinery project in the US in the last 30 years, according to Market Watch.  That is great news!  After many years of America believing that they are above the rest of the world by discouraging environmental deterioration on US soil in favor of environmental deterioration abroad we have come to realization that we have to produce our own ugly stuff: gas.  The fact that gas is at $4 / gallon and above helps a lot, I am sure.

I think this should mark a new time for economical expansion: a new moment where we start producing the goods and services we need: gas and food.  What a concept!  Back to basics: provide what people need the most!  Those South Dakota rednecks turned out to be smarter than those Boston Ivy League, well healed cosmopolites. 

Bring a big, stinky refinery to my backyard! Bring a big radioactive nuclear plant to my backyard!  This project in South Dakota is creating 1,800 jobs: and whoever disagree with job creation is ough to cede his/her job to one of those 5.5% percent people of Amerca who are looking for one!
